Stealing
Overview
Stealing is a Core Feature in the game Steal a Brainrot. It involves taking a brainrot from another player's base.
Mechanics
Alerts
When a brainrot is being stolen, the owner is alerted with:
- Message: "Someone is stealing your Graipuss Medussi" (example).
- Sound: An alarming sound effect (High Quality or Low Quality versions exist).
Penalties for the Stealer
While holding a stolen brainrot, the thief suffers significant penalties:
- Gears Disabled: Unable to use Gears.
- Speed Reduced: Reduced by ~41% (from 34 to 20).
- Jump Height Reduced: Reduced by 40% (from 7.2 to 4.32).
Success
If the steal is successful, the owner receives a message: "[Player Name] Stole your Tim Cheese". The message color codes the brainrot's rarity:
- Green: Common
- Blue: Rare
- Purple: Epic
- Yellow: Legendary
- Red: Mythic
- Rainbow: Brainrot God
- Black and White: Secret
- Black and Yellow: OG
Griefing Warning
Warning: If the owner of the brainrot leaves the game while you are stealing it, DO NOT get hit by another player (Griefing) or reset your character. Doing so will cause the brainrot to be permanently deleted.
Strategies
What to NOT Do
- Avoid Open Areas: Do not go in the open where people can Grief you using items like the Gravity Coil.
- Avoid Fights: Do not interfere with fights, as getting hit counts as being griefed.
- Prioritize Defense: If your base is open, prioritize stopping thieves immediately to prevent being overwhelmed.
What to Do
- Use Terrain: If you have a tall avatar and a second floor (Rebirth 2+), place a turret at the top of the stairs to jump to the edge of the map.
- Opportune Moments: You can try to steal from players who are distracted by griefers fighting inside or outside their base.
